What Materials Are Needed

The price of skilled workers in Senegal is around $10 - $15 USD (United States Dollars). You will also need to provide food, which might be around $1 - $2 USD. A 60-pound bag of cement costs around $5 USD and transportation locally costs from $300 - $500 USD however cross-country transportation can cost from $500 - $1000 USD.

Considering that it will be a big construction job it will take from 6 to 10 workers and they project might take a week to build. So labor would cost approx. $1,800 per water pump built. Adding the costs of the water pump and the transportation as well as 10 bags of cement it would cost approx. $9,400 at the most and $4,200 at the least.

Since this project is based in Romania we will be fundraising $5,000 USD in Romanian Lei which when it is converted it sums up to approximately 15,500 Lei. We need to raise money in Lei because otherwise the people of Bucharest, which are our target donators won’t be willing to pay as much in Euro. This is because the Romanian currency is Lei and is what is most commonly paid in shops so it is what the public has the most change of. Whilst we are hoping for and welcoming larger donations we are grateful for smaller donations as well.

The only way to pay this large amount of money is to fundraise it. The location of where I would begin fundraising is at school. Some different fundraising ideas are:

·      A talent show
·      Selling tickets to a bonfire night at school
·      Selling cookies
·      Selling sandwiches
·      Selling small bottled water that have a save Africa bottle ad
·      Selling t-shirt that have the Clean Water For Senegal logo on them
·      Selling candy bags with water fact note in the baggy
·      Hosting a sponge throwing contest and getting some well liked and known teachers to volunteer
·      Host a high school slip n’ slide where people have to pay for turns
·      Host a fundraiser event such as a party or dinner where you charge for tickets.
